What happens when we stop trying to control who we are?
In BECOMING WILD, the human figure appears to transform before our eyes. Birds, wings and sweeping lines emerge around the body, blurring the boundary between the human and the untamed.
There is both stillness and movement in the work. The upward gaze feels calm, while the surrounding lines seem almost restless – as though something within is finally being released.
Perhaps freedom isn’t something we find.
Perhaps it’s something we become.
The artwork is created using Ole Hedeager’s distinctive figurative drip-painting technique. Rather than painting directly onto the canvas with a brush, Hedeager drips and guides the paint from above, building the figure through flowing lines, controlled movement and spontaneity.
The painting tool never touches the canvas.
The result is a completely unique original artwork in which control and coincidence exist side by side.
